Suchi Pradyumn Joshi ( MA, 2006) is a Ph.D. Student in the Amsterdam School of Communication Research, ASCoR, at the University of Amsterdam. She received her MA in Communication from Wake Forest University and her BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. As a 2006-2007 Fulbright Scholar, she conducted independent research at the University of Amsterdam on the influence of social norms and sensation seeking on students' sexual behavior and safer sex practices. Prior to her Ph.D., she worked as a Research Associate in Washington, DC for a health consulting firm. Currently, she investigates adolescents' exposure to a sexualized media environment. Her research includes cross-cultural content analyses of US and Dutch teen magazines for material related to sex (i.e., sexual desire, danger, virginity loss, teen pregnancy, and casual/committed sex) and relationships, as well as survey research of the same topics amongst adolescents.
